My Mama stood up with soap in her hands,
As she washed clothes,
And as usual I was playing with the water,
Helping her,
As my little self-told me,
But in the real sense,
I was playing with water.
Pretending to help her.
She raised her brow,
And looked at me ever so lovingly,
The words she said that day;
Forever linger in my mind,
Even if I was so small,
I have lived by these words to date,
She said:
God ordained you and planned for you,
When you were a flower about to bloom,
A life of joy was placed in you,
Not one of gloom and doom,
A positive attitude, you must always employ.
My mama went on and said
This world is not a good place,
But with God’s love and mercy,
You will survive,
He has got your back all the time,
He has you in the palms of his hands,
That means, he always remembers and has good thoughts of
you.
Because, you are in your fathers care,
You know you shall not lack,
Psalms 23 says so,
Never give in to anguish and despair,
Be inspired by his unending love,
He has best of plans for you.
When faced with sorrow,
Don’t cry and question why,
He is right there with you,
Hugging and comforting you,
Rest on his shoulder,
Let him carry your burden.
My mama,
As she bended to continue washing,
She finally said,
My little lady,
Be always happy,
Learn to give,
As by giving your receive more,
Don’t ever quit,
The lord is always by your side.
